                                                  WHAT IS I.T.S?

ITS is Robinson’s official theatre honor society.  ITS, or the International Thespian Society, is a chapter group of an international organization, whose national parent organization is The Educational Theatre Association (www.edta.org), and whose state parent organization is Virginia Thespians (www.vathespian.org).

Each year Robinson’s chapter must pay annual dues to this parent organization and each member must pay a membership fee in order to be an official member of ITS.  This fee pays for a full year subscription to Dramatics magazine, helps support the parent organization, and allows involvement in Regional, State, and National ITS conferences.
Traditionally, Robinson’s troupe attends the ITS State weekend conference and performs a show there.

ITS traditionally acts as the body for recording student theatre participation in the way of ITS Points, and thus determining the qualification for “lettering” in Drama at Robinson.  In addition, ITS officers are elected yearly, members attend ITS State,  hold monthly meetings, and raise money through concessions at theatre events.

This year in ITS members are invited to a large number of after-school social events (usually with some sort of theatre link) designed to bond those most involved in Robinson Theatre on a social level, and most importantly, to have fun.  Events are entirely student-planned, costs are in some way supplemented from the ITS account, and all events are chaperoned and approved by the ITS Sponsor, Amy Hard.  Participation in these events is limited to inducted ITS members.  None of these events is mandatory.

To become part of ITS students must earn a minimum of 20 ITS Points from at least two areas of theatre activity. A point represents a minimum of ten hours of activity.  Inductions will be held twice a year. Points earned are determined by the official ITS Point scale or by prior show standards.  Please direct questions about points to this year’s Clerk-Historian, Trevor Stafford-Walter.

Direct any questions about ITS to this year’s President, Meggy Mealy.
