2017 Fringe Festival: HERE WE COME!!!
The High School Theatre Department of Robinson Secondary School has been selected as a winner of the 2017 AHSTF Theatre Festival in conjunction with Edinburgh Fringe Fest in Scotland. Our program was nominated by regional and national theatre directors, and our commitment to excellence was recognized by the Board of Advisors of University Theatre Professionals by whom we were selected.
In August of 2017 we will bring a newly devised piece of theatre and perform on an international stage with performers from around the world. We will start our journey with 2 days in London’s West End, seeing shows and attending workshops with The National Theatre and The Globe Theatre. Then we head to Edinburgh Scotland to perform, witness, experience theatre in ways you could not even imagine! Theatre professionals who have experienced Edinburgh Fringe before say it is the experience of a lifetime!
In 1947, the Edinburgh International Festival was formed as an event to promote peace and unity in the world after World War II. Eight uninvited theatre companies traveled to the Festival and participated on its ‘fringes’. These companies attracted so much attention and enthusiasm that a new festival was born, The Edinburgh Festival Fringe! Today, with nearly 3,000 productions, 40,000 performances and thousands of performers from across the globe, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the largest performance arts festival in the world!
