| To: Parents of Theatre Arts students 1/26/05 From: Mr. Rome Re: Special class event – NVTF It’s time at last for that special event I’ve been talking about since the first day of school (and Back to School Night)—The Northern Virginia Theatre Festival. This is a full Saturday of workshops and performances featuring our kids. There are opportunities to watch – and many kids are signed up to participate in—monologues, cold readings, duet scenes, improvisation, mime, etc., and also in set, costume, makeup and prop design, playwriting… practically everything! The day finishes with final performances and lots and lots of awards! The Theatre Arts students have been looking forward to this featured class all year, and now it’s time! The Northern Virginia Theatre Festival (NVTF) will take place on Saturday, February 26th at Falls Church High School, from registration starting at 8:00am to awards at 8:00pm (told ‘ya it was a full day!). The fee for registration has been paid by the theatre department (you’re welcome), but full attendance is very important. Drama Boosters will also be available throughout the day should any special needs arise. Students may opt to prepare a research paper in lieu of attending this 12 hour event. WHO? -- ALL Theatre Arts 1 students and selected advanced students. TRANSPORTATION is NOT provided. Carpooling is encouraged, and students will have opportunities to coordinate their plans, but there is no Robinson departure/return. All checking in will take place at the Reigistration area at Falls Church HS. Route: 495N to 50 East to Right on Jaguar Rd to Falls Church HS. CHECK IN with Mr. Rome upon arrival. Latecomers should find a Robinson Drama Booster near the registration area. LATE ARRIVAL/EARLY DEPARTURE must be identified at the registration desk, so we don’t have to go searching for “lost” students! FOOD will be on sale in the cafeteria at all meal times, or kids can bring their own. THEATRE STUFF (t-shirts, jewelry, posters, etc.) will be on sale from various vendors. We look forward to strong participation at NVTF. An alternate assignment is available for students who can not attend. Thanks for your cooperation!!! Please send back the enclosed Emergency Care Card to verify participation (duplicates in the drama dept DON'T count!).
